Introducing Our New Environmental Division Manager: Guy Rousseau

GUY ROUSSEAUWe are excited to welcome Guy Rousseau as our new Environmental Division Manager. With his extensive knowledge, deep expertise, and unique background, Guy is set to play a crucial role in advancing our Environmental Division. “It’s been inspiring seeing Guy’s involvement in the MTC environmental team. His personality and expertise have been enlightening to the group as we grow our current relationships and embark on new exciting projects,” says Nick Fransted, P.E., Vice President and Renewable Energy Division Manager.

“My primary goal for the Environmental Division is improvement and growth of the staff. I would like to improve the division’s understanding of the environmental laws and regulations so that any MTC environmental professional will be as well-versed as an EGLE regulator or an environmental professional from any other firm. Not only is a thorough understanding of the laws and regulations critical, but we also need to be able to convey the information we gather in a concise manner, understandable to the layperson,” says Guy.

Guy has been in the environmental field since 1995, starting his career as a truck driver, laborer, and field tech on an underground storage tank removal crew. Over the years, he has advanced to become a senior project manager, gaining a comprehensive understanding of environmental laws and regulations along the way. His specialty in particular lies in fluid flow through porous media and contaminant fate and transport.

As an Army Brat, he lived in various locations due to his parents’ military careers, attending high school in Troy, New York. His family remains in that area, with his mother’s side originally from Benton Harbor, Michigan, and his father’s side based in Leland, Mississippi. The “Rousseau” lineage traces back to French Huguenots who settled in South Carolina in the 1640s and eventually migrated to Mississippi.

Guy holds an Associate’s Degree in Ecology and Environmental Technology from Paul Smith’s College, earned in 1991. He then transferred to Michigan Tech, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering in 1994. Later in his career, Guy pursued a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, a decision he considers as one of his best, significantly enriching his professional journey after two decades in the field.

In his spare time, Guy enjoys a variety of hobbies, including boating, snowmobiling, and motorcycling. He and his wife, Rosemary, are active competitive shooters, primarily participating in Cowboy Action Shooting. They have three grown daughters who reside in Weidman, Michigan; Jackson, Michigan; and Glastonbury, Connecticut.

Welcome to the team, Guy!
