Carolyn Johnson, JD

Carolyn is MTC’s Corporate Risk Manager and general counsel. In this role, she directs all legal matters, reviews MTC contracts and policies, furnishes business guidance, supports human resources and employment relations, coordinates insurance, and assists with MTC’s safety program.

Prior to joining MTC in 2024, Carolyn was a private practice attorney focused on business law and estate law. Before becoming an attorney, she was a product development engineer where she worked on first-to-market and new integration concept products for both large and small companies. Her background also includes business management.

Carolyn holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Calvin University and earned her law degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and second in her class.

Carolyn has served on the Kent Conservation District, the Kent County Agricultural Preservation Board, and led the Kent County 4-H Horse Leaders. Currently she is an active volunteer with Trinity Lutheran Church.
